Each of the band performances requires loading, transporting, and unloading of instruments. The marching band instruments normally go onto the buses with the students.

The field show and winter line programs normally include a ‘front ensemble’ or ‘pit’ section that includes a variety of instruments including mallets, xylophones, marimbas, vibes, chimes, a concert bass, and sometimes a drum set. The field show, winter guard and winter line programs sometimes include props. Those instruments and the props are normally transported to and from the performance in a rented truck.

In the past, we have used a Cherry Creek School District truck and driver. However, it is more economical and simpler for us to rent a truck from a commercial vendor and have one of the parents drive and manage it that day.

The Transportation Committee Chair also serves as the coordinator for loading and unloading the truck prior to leaving the school, at the event and upon returning to school. Students and parents send up the items in the order requested. So if you need some exercise, we can probably help you out. Please contact the Transportation Committee or OHSBPA board member to volunteer.
