Field Show |
|
|
Field Show is an extracurricular performance unit that plays music, executes choreographed marching drills and integrates the Color Guard unit as well as a 'front ensemble' or 'pit' section that includes stationary instruments such as marimbas, a drum set, chimes, concert bass, timpanys, cymbals and other percussion instruments. The events are formally judged competitions with Field Show units from other high schools. The performances occur on a football field. Typically, the Field Show unit performs their program during half time at the OHS Varsity home games. The competition season for Field Show starts shortly after that of Marching Band. Most of the performances and competitions listed in the calendar during the Fall are for Field Show. CU Band Day, in late September provides feedback and coaching on the music and the routine before the competition season starts. Practices are typically two evenings per week and Saturdays in the September/October timeframe. Field Show fees are used to help offset the cost of performance registrations, accompanying props, music and instructors. |
