OVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL BAND & COLOR GUARD

 

Jazz Band is a non-competitive musical performing unit that consists of advanced musicians. The students in Jazz Band learn a variety of traditional ‘big band era’ and other jazz numbers. Jazz Band is a formal course in the Performing Arts program at Overland High School.

The Jazz Band performs at the Jazz and Orchestra concerts throughout the year. They have performed during the annual Swing Dance that is sponsored as a fundraiser by the orchestra students. They perform at a variety of internal school functions and have performed, along with the Chorale group, during the holiday craft sale that is held in the November timeframe.

Jazz Band normally consists of a piano, drum set, bass guitar, electric guitar, trumpets, trombones, and saxophones.

Jazz Band is a great musical experience. Practice occurs during Jazz Band classroom time, but may also include after school time as well.
