OHS Marching Band

Marching Band is the activity most people think of when they talk about band. All band students perform in Marching Band. Band class is 2 consecutive class periods throughout the year. After Marching Band season is over, students attend one of these periods, depending on if they are placed in Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble. The Marching Band season roughly matches the fall sports season and most of the marching events occur during those months.

Historically, those events have often included:
- The State Fair Parade (Late August)
- The Scottish Highlands Festival (Early September)
- The Parade of Lights (Early December)

Band Camp, in August, is the primary training for the first two events due to their early September schedule dates, so it is very important for incoming band students to attend.

Marching Band plays in the homecoming parade that starts on the school grounds on the Friday of homecoming week in the spring. (see photo). The Band also plays during the graduation ceremony in May..
