Colorado State Fair Parade |

The
Colorado State Fair Parade is the first event for the Marching Band.
The event comes very early in the school year. In 2003, the event occurred
before the first day of school! In the past, OHS has been marched near
the end of the parade. Mr. Laguardia is estimating their 'step off'
time this year to be about 10:30. In the past the parade has marched
north from Union and D street. Turning north on Grand for several blocks,
turning east to Main Street and returning back down past D street. |

| Many observers from Pueblo arrive early enough to be able to sit on the sidewalk or curb along the parade route. Many bring chairs. Sometimes the weather can be pretty hot, although that doesn't look like it will be a problem this year. | |||
| After the parade the students are taken to a north Pueblo location that has a cluster of fast-food restaraunts where they are free to walk and eat. After lunch they go to the State Fair grounds for a stand still performance that is usually in the late afternoon. After the performance they have some free time at the fair and then return to Overland at about 7:45 pm. Students who are scheduled to work Bingo that evening need to contact Monica to make sure their shifts are covered for whatever portion of the bingo they are going to miss. Don't assume that it will be taken care of automatically. | |||
| RESULTS: The band was awarded 3rd place in the parade competition. There were 5 bands in contention. Mr.Laguardia indicated that this was the first time an Overland Marching Band has ever won an award in the State Fair Parade competition. CONGRATULATIONS!! |
